In this brief video, I am going to explain what is a Construction Certificate and talk about why and when it may be required for your upcoming project.
If you received development consent after submitting a DA to Council, you need a Construction Certificate before work can begin on your project. If you have a Complying Development Certificate, also known as CDC, you do not need a Construction Certificate.
A Construction Certificate confirms that building plans
- comply with the Building Code of Australia,
- that they are not inconsistent with the development consent
- and that they comply with the relevant conditions of the development consent.
Construction Certificates can be issued by Councils as well as Private Certifiers.
Finally, it’s important to note that without a Construction Certificate, you cannot obtain an Occupation Certificate at the completion of your project.
